A Summer Showcase at Charterhouse Square

On Tuesday 24th June, in partnership with Smart Summer Parties, we hosted an exclusive preview of Charterhouse Square, a brand-new summer venue for 2025 and one of London’s most charming hidden gems. Nestled in the heart of the Barbican, this quintessential English garden played host to agency partners and corporate clients as they enjoyed a first look at the Smart Summer Parties all-inclusive summer package.

As the exclusive caterer at Charterhouse Square over the summer run of events, we curated a deliciously fresh menu, featuring seasonal ingredients and refreshing drinks, all designed to reflect the spirit of British summertime at its very best.

Summery Sips & Canapés

Guests were greeted with a refreshing selection of summery cocktails on arrival, including classics like Pimm’s, alongside our bespoke Pea Snap and Flora Dora cocktails, and a fragrant mint and basil lemonade. These were perfectly complemented by a range of canapés created by our chefs, from a modern twist on ‘ham, egg and chips’ featuring ham hock terrine, egg purée, piccalilli, and crisp potato, to a delicate smoked trout tart topped with gin and tonic crème fraîche, trout roe, and bronze fennel.

Interactive, Seasonal Food Stations

Guests were then invited to explore two interactive food stations that showcased our culinary creativity. Our brand-new Burrata Station was a hit, serving luxuriously creamy burrata with exquisite toppings like hand-carved Prosciutto di San Daniele and juicy peach. Nearby, our whimsical Picnic in the Park Station paid tribute to British summer favourites, offering nostalgic bites such as flaky sausage rolls, tender steak rolls, and coronation chicken sandwiches.

A Celebration of Strawberries

A Sweet Finale

Just when it seemed the culinary journey was complete, our Executive Pastry Chef, Sarah Hartnett, unveiled a stunning dessert station: A Celebration of Strawberries. This vibrant display featured an irresistible array of strawberry-themed treats, including delicate strawberry tarts with crisp pastry and silky crème pâtissière, macaron towers, mini flowerpots and so much more, offering a true feast for the senses.

Sunshine, Games & Entertainment

The atmosphere throughout the evening was filled with the joy of summer. Guests took full advantage of the garden space, enjoying classic lawn games like croquet and giant Jenga, while a charming photo opportunity allowed for the perfect keepsake moment. Acoustic music flowed gently throughout the afternoon, setting the tone for a relaxing celebration that transitioned into the evening. As the sun began to set over Charterhouse Square, a live saxophone performance added a magical finishing touch to the evening.

This special showcase was a true celebration of the season, a seamless blend of relaxed elegance, elevated catering, and sunshine-soaked charm. Charterhouse Square has already proven itself as a standout setting for unforgettable summer events, and we’re excited to bring this experience to life for even more clients throughout Summer 2025 and beyond.
