What better way for Moving Venue to embrace the spooky season than by hosting a spectacular Halloween themed tasting for the lovely events team at Somerset House.

Pumpkin Spice and All Things Nice

October has flown by, the pumpkins are out, and Halloween is quite literally on our doorstep.

What better way for Moving Venue to embrace the spooky season than by hosting a spectacular Halloween themed tasting for the lovely events team at Somerset House.

The tasting was held on Tuesday 29th October in our brand-new, beautiful tasting room in Bermondsey. The whole room was beautifully decorated and adorned with amazing gold and blue studded pumpkins. Upon arrival, guests received a glass of Champagne and a bespoke bubbling cocktail, made with Tanqueray gin, Aperol, Chambord, lemon and apple.

Whilst the canapés flowed, guests then got to try their hand at decorating their very own pumpkin, using a variety of studs and transfers. Following this, the first course was served, a delicious tarragon and parsley risotto with sticky beef short rib and crispy shallots. This was swiftly followed by a fish course of London cured smoked salmon, beetroot, apple and dill salad with apple pancakes and caviar crème fraiche.

Then came the mains which comprised of a crispy duck confit with wilted spinach, sarladaise potatoes and wild mushroom sauce and a slow cooked delicata squash with curried rice cracker, goats curd, buttermilk dressing and crisp pear. These mouth-watering mains were specially chosen because they embrace the autumnal flavours of the season. Incorporating many different carefully thought out ingredients, that ultimately come-together to form a deliciously hearty dish perfect for these colder nights. Needless to say, they went down extremely well with our guests.

Finally, in the spirit of Halloween, our guests enjoyed a spiced pumpkin pie in the shape of a pumpkin with pecan soil, icy sugar spider webs and toasted marshmallow ice cream. This dessert was custom created by our incredibly talented Head Pastry chef Sophie and was a perfect way to round off this Halloween inspired meal.
