Sustainability Round‑Up 2025
From combating food waste to championing global education, we've been actively living our sustainability values. Here’s a glimpse of what we’ve achieved so far this year...
Our Aim
At Moving Venue, we are the specialist catering arm within the wider Smart Group family. We serve over 40 London venues and deliver exceptional hospitality across conferences, receptions, banquets, exhibitions, and creative activations. We operate in some of London’s most iconic spaces, from our flagship venue Evolution London to the upcoming Somerset House seasonal collaboration, and now at 60 Great Queen Street. That scale and footprint don’t just bring prestige; they carry responsibility. We don’t see this as a challenge; we see this as a platform for change.
Looking ahead to 2026, our goal is to deepen our commitment to sustainability and innovation, continually raising the bar for eco-friendly hospitality while enhancing the guest experience across all our venues.
Global Giving with B1G1
We partner with B1G1 (Buy‑1‑Give‑1) to connect the everyday business of hospitality with meaningful global impact. Since becoming a B1G1 partner in 2023, we’ve consistently achieved Gold Impact Partner status through our scale of contributions. To date, we’ve generated over 150,000 life‑changing impacts from providing access to educational tools, supporting girls’ hygiene initiatives, and planting trees around the world. And we’re not stopping here: our goal is to surpass 200,000 impacts by year‑end.
In practice, every time a client engages us for an event, part of our operations is matched with B1G1 giving activities. We provide complete transparency, enabling clients to see exactly where their contributions go and how they translate into tangible benefits in communities globally. This approach shifts giving from being “extra” to being integral; every event becomes an opportunity to uplift lives, not just a one‑off occurrence.
City Harvest
How we work with City Harvest to create change!
Through our partnership with City Harvest, we help stop food waste by donating surplus food from our events for redistribution to communities across London. We also allocate a portion of our Green Levy to fund meal provision and regularly volunteer as a team at their warehouse to sort, pack, and distribute food to those in need. This partnership not only reduces our environmental footprint but also ensures that good food reaches people who need it most, helping to build a more sustainable and compassionate city.
Impact in numbers:
In a single 56-hour volunteer stretch
- 29,680 meals delivered
- 12.5 tonnes of food rescued
- 32 tonnes of CO₂ emissions prevented (by diverting food from landfill)
- Our initial donation of £6,000 funded ~18,000 meals; the corresponding avoided waste prevented ~7.56 tonnes of food waste and saved ~18.9 tonnes of emissions.
- On recent volunteer days: rescuing ~13 tonnes of food, distributing nearly 30,000 meals, and reducing ~32 tonnes of emissions.
Green Levy
Our sustainability efforts are powered by the Green Levy, an optional 50p per person contribution that helps make our events greener and more impactful. Thanks to the support of 336 businesses that have chosen to participate, we’ve raised over £60,000 to date, directly funding the projects and partnerships highlighted here.
From cutting food waste to supporting communities locally and globally, these contributions are driving meaningful change. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who’s joined us on this journey. Your support makes all the difference. Together, let’s maintain the momentum and continue to create a positive impact for the future.
